The purpose of Deep Tissue Massage is to release tension and tightness held deeply in the muscles and connective tissues, as well as relive tension closer to the surface. Deep Tissue Massage uses, as the name suggests, deep pressure. A combination of slow strokes and noticeable pressure help to get further in to the muscles and connective tissues.
You can typically expect a firmer pressure than that of a Swedish massage. as the main focus is releasing tightness rather than a relaxing destress massage. However, at Bee Revived, you don't have to sacrifice a relaxing atmosphere in order to have your muscles deeply worked on!
Clients with restricted movement due to muscle tension, are often quick to experience an increased flexibility or range of movement from one session. For more substantial, long term effects, more sessions are advised on either a fortnightly or monthly basis.
If you are looking for deep, effective muscle tension release in a relaxing environment - this is probably the massage for you! If you like a light touch and a gentle relaxing massage, you should book in for a Swedish massage.
It is IMPORTANT to note: D.T.M. is NOT a substitute for medical care or fix for medical issues. A massage therapist can't diagnose you with anything, it is an holistic treatment and NOT a medical profession. Deep Tissue Massage is for the release of deep muscle tension and knots. If you think you may have a medical condition, injury or concern, you must see your GP or other medical practitioner!
Swedish massage is a superficial treatment and as such is much lighter and is a more gentle experience than Deep Tissue.
Rather than focusing on chasing down knots and tension, this type of massage focuses on pure relaxation, allowing you to drift off to a peaceful state. It energises the body and improves general well-being.
The movements used during this style are percussion, kneading, tapping, stroking and rolling.
Swedish massage can help relax tense muscles, increase blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, and induce relaxation.
As massage is the use of physical touch, this brings with it bigger improvements in depression, anxiety, and pain (by reducing cortisol levels). So if you struggle with stress or other negative emotions or thoughts, Swedish massage could be a great help in restoring you to a better place.
